Miracle Egg Priority (2021)

A certain “mystery of death” inextricably follows even the most ordinary and everyday person. People have long been trying to understand this phenomenon, and not just come to terms with it, agreeing that this is the same end for everyone and they shouldn’t darken their already short existence with heavy thoughts.

But, unfortunately, teenagers are especially close to the cold embrace of oblivion. The trend of voluntary death among young people has always been quite high, especially among people aged 14 to 17 years. These are not yet formed individuals who do not know who they are, what they want from life, perceive many things quite acutely, and are also subject to influence from outside.

In different countries, teenagers are under enormous pressure: adults, peers, oppression, competition, injustice, prejudice and many other things. In addition, a large number fail to come to terms with themselves due to various complexes and questions about their own personality. Especially in our country, where the problems of the younger generation are treated with disdain and the extremely unstable young psyche is not taken into account. For the most part, you have to cope on your own, since the fact is already established in your head that they will not treat you with understanding and will limit themselves to a couple of general phrases with instructions to do something more useful. No parent should forget what hell can sometimes go on in their child’s head. And that he can think about the simplest solution to his problems, which will only bring pain and emptiness.

The colorful title is not as gloomy as it might seem. It openly talks about all the problems of teenagers and the horrors that swarm in their thoughts. But here there is a place for friendship, light and childhood that has not yet been taken away. It is impossible to prevent every such tragedy, but we can notice its approach and at least not stand aside, not become “Not-Noticing-Nothing”.

The moral of the series is quite clear, maybe even naive: friends and family will definitely help, the main thing is not to close yourself off and accept help, then you can survive anything. Of course, in life not everything is so simple, but the very revelation of the work’s intention and its frankness with the viewer cannot but delight.

During the release season, the title was quite popular, as it boldly and openly spoke about the topic of suicide among teenagers, which in itself is a difficult, sensitive and pressing problem of our time. The creators were not afraid to discuss it as it is, raising to the surface the social complexities that often lead to such a tragic ending. But despite the severity of the chosen topic, the authors created the anime in a light, colorful, varied palette of characters and locations, making viewing less burdensome, while at the same time not departing from the initial psychological load on the viewer. There are many interesting visual metaphors used that refer back to the very meaning of anime.

Reflections after viewing are vivid and deep, forcing you to look for a double bottom in the plot or other hidden hints. This is a good emotional and psychological shake-up, plus there are pleasant impressions from meeting well-written and developed characters.

Plot and characters

The plot centers on a 14-year-old Ay Otto, who, at her own request, closed herself off from the whole world in the safe shell of her home after experiencing the suicide of her best school friend – Koito Nagase. Ai herself suffered from ridicule from classmates because of her heterochromia. You can’t think of a stupider reason for bullying, but children are extremely cruel, so it’s not surprising. The girl is very withdrawn and uncommunicative, and after the loss of a person who treated her well, she became a hikikomori, stopping attending school, unable to withstand such an event.

The story begins with Ai walking alone. Unable to pass by the dead beetle, the girl picks it up and buries it with all honors, after which he offers her an interesting deal. The heroine will take an unusual egg, bring it home and fall asleep with it. After this, the actions will be transported to another world of miracle eggs, flooded with embodiments of psychological trauma, fears and experiences of teenage girls. Each egg contains the soul of a girl who took her own life in reality for one reason or another. They are intimidated by their complexes and locked in this rotting shell. Forced to relive your nightmare again and again and again.

The buyer of the egg must protect the victim and defeat the main boss – the source of the injury. In this world, buyers are immortal, you just need to take care of your eyes and heart, but all damage in dreams appears after waking up.

What is the profit from such dangerous forays?? A buyer’s deceased loved one can come back to life. This is why the main character buys eggs – she wants to return her friend and find out the cause of her death. But Ai won’t have to go through these trials alone, because the world of the miracle egg has fulfilled another cherished wish – it has given her new friends.

Let’s get to know her and her companions better.

Ay Otto – a rather withdrawn girl who ran away from her problems into her room and stopped attending school. Lives with her mother, her father left the family a long time ago, but communicates with his daughter every month. Ai is very shy to make new acquaintances, although he sincerely wants to. Over the course of the series, he grows significantly as a person, stops constantly hiding in his “egg” and only becomes stronger, more fiercely protecting the inhabitants of another world. At the same time, she is very trusting, naive and impulsive, she can immediately rush into battle without really thinking. She is also loyal, cheerful and sympathetic. Her favorite symbol is a sunflower, and the girl herself is very reminiscent of this bright sunny flower.
